WP Image Compress Upload is a WordPress plugin that compresses and converts images before uploading.

It adds a “Compress Upload” panel in the Gutenberg (block editor) sidebar. After selecting an image, the pluginlocally in the browsercompresses and converts it to WebP format, then uploads it to the WordPress media library. The original image is never sent to the server, reducing bandwidth and server load.

Image compression, format conversion, and upload – all in one go! Almost no difference from the original upload experience.

Installation

1. Go to theReleasespage to download the latest .zip file
2. Log in to WordPress admin → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
3. Select the downloaded ZIP file and click “Install Now”
4. After installation, click “Activate Plugin”
